Oh Canada!

Today is Canada day(formerly known as Dominion Day).Or so I'm told.
I don't actually have a calendar that says that,so if it isn't,then I'm officially declaring it!
The day will be observed with a parade on Parliament Hill, fireworks, and probably a hockey game..I just don't know.

As for me,I'll be enjoying a sumptuous meal of traditional Canadian food, just as soon as I figure out exactly what that is.
I'm sure bacon will be involved...In any case..

HAPPY CANADA DAY!
To all my friends in the Great White North.

We acknowledged this fact last night at dinner. And then people burst into "O Canada" and half the people at the table actually knew lyrics beyond "O Canada". And then we drank a liqueur that was whiskey and maple syrup. From Canada, eh.

This whiskey and maple syrup concoction of which you speak has me intrigued.
I must have it!
I don't really know the song "Oh Canada",so I just replace "Tannenbaum" with Canada, and nobody seems to notice.

I wish they would hold a curling tournament. I got really hooked on curling after watching it in the Olympics. It seemed weird at first, but it get addictive to watch.

jan-I know exactly what you mean!
All that frenetic sweeping, and the delightful anguish of watching the curling thingy making it's inexhorable way to the target is mesmerizing..I especially enjoy a nice slab of Canadian bacon while watching it!

Traditional Native Canadian breakfast:
Slow-aged pemmican with bannock bread cooked over an open fire with sticks and slathered with maple butter.
Hey, that sounds pretty good. Not sure what the hell 'pemmican' is.

Ran a quick Wiki on it and it turns out that pemmican is as follows:
a concentrated food consisting of dried pulverized meat, dried berries, and rendered fat.

See? Pemmican = good.

I'm thinkin beer, green beans and a ham.

Sorry, Sling but I read your last post and I may have to call the Pirating Police. I abhor the thought of taking something from someone else like I did with your clock badge.

Hat-...while I ALWAYS enjoy having you stop by,and leave your particular brand of endearing, and pithy comments,I think we both know that it's high time you did your laundry..(Imagine the irony of mine being the voice of reason)...
Love ya sunshine! ;)

Rube-I'm having Pemmican(beef jerky)with those little red peppers that set your lungs on fire..sort of Canadian/seschuan..should be fun.

Rosie(You are my Posie)-I understand that you must do what you think is right...
So I've entered the software pirate witness protection program...While you are explaining that nefarious Kitty clock on your blog,I will be basking in the glory of life in Fresno,California..Sorry..I couldn't take the pressure. :P

Oddly enough, yours is usually the voice of reason. In fact, when I hear reason creeping up behind me in my mind, it's in your voice. Of coarse, I've never actually heard your voice, so I have substituted it with Clint Eastwoods.

Also, I had done all of my laundry.

And finally...this is the most I have ever commented on any single post ever in my life. Which should count for something and if not, should at least be rewarded with a pie.

Do they still call each other "hosers?" (All of my Canada knowledge comes from Bob & Doug McKenzie circa 1983.)
