Drunken Blogging..

I don't have a lot to blog about today, but there's something that's been on my mind for the last couple of days, and I wanted to put it out there into the blogosphere.

Stay with me..

Obama has clearly won the Democratic nomination for President, and there has been much speculation as to whether or not he should choose Hillary as his running mate.
The talking heads that are getting paid big bucks to analyze this situation, are saying that Obama should offer Hillary the VP spot,as a matter of political courtesy, and that Hillary should decline in favor of something more substantial.
I mean,face it,the Vice-President really only has two functions.
Speaker of the house,(yawn)..and taking the helm in the event that the President is incapacitated...Slim pickin's indeed.
Okay, all that makes some measure of sense to me.
There are future forces at work that need to be considered.

These same pundits however, are saying that should Hillary decline the office of Vice-President,it would be bad form for Obama to choose another woman as his running mate...It would be an egregious act of disrespect towards Hillary,as a political pioneer in this country.
After all,Hillary has been at the forefront of breaking ground on this new political turf, women holding one of the top two positions in the executive branch of government.
That she deserves to be the first, seems an historical imperative!

How many women are thinking at this moment,'You go girl!'?..

Here's my question;
What do women want?..Seriously.

The only way I can interpret this,is that it's admirable for Hillary to stand in the way of some other woman's opportunity to set this new standard of achievement.

And not just admirable, but 'politically correct'!

I can't for the life of me,wrap my mind around this disparity of logic.

Put it this way..
What would our reaction be,if two men had been in the running, and after his successful campaign Obama proclaimed,..'Oh,..I wouldn't even consider a woman as my running mate'? ..

..just wonderin'.

I think the pundits are nuts. Obama should pick the person he thinks would be the best person for job. I have decided that will not not accept if he offers to VP spot to me. I think I'm too old, but I'm not near as old as McCain.

I think picking hillary as vp is a sure way to get 'kennedyed'...she's treaterous enough to have a hit put out on him...seriously folks..
and she should insist he consider another woman..or who ever is best for the job..I'm thinking about who i think would be a good one...john edwards is a pussy but he'd get some votes...

Has to be...the best person for the job; man, woman, child..doesn't matter. Obama owes Hillary nothing, none of us do. She did a good job of campaigning, but she did not win. What do women want? They want EE's diet secret...maybe even EE for Veep!

Oh God says the rest of the world when on earth will the US election be over - all this just to decide who gets to run on one side -

Pick anybody, pick a jelly bean for all the good it'll do - if anyone thinks Hillary or obama (sounds like...Osama!) or the Cain bloke actually gets to make the decisions ... you have to laugh - they are the show ponies and the decisions are made in Wall street and places even closer to the fires of hell - where on earth did this barak bloke come from - its like no one ever heard of him and now he's like a demi god -

Why do I feel so uneasy about all the above? Because sadly what happens in the fading super power the US affects us but not as much as does the new super power China
affect us. My eyes are up that way right now... they really are a tired old lot running in the US, similiar to the grubs we have down under. Baracka (thats his real name) is too smooth for me and the others are just gross with corruption. Call me ol cynical

I'll tell you what American women want. We want the same thing American men want: the best person for the job. Whomever we feel that person is, regardless of gender or ethnicity.
Hmpf.
(The level of ignorance among some of your readers is blowing my mind presently)

I just want this to be over with. I want a good running mate for him, period. Don't care what sex or color the person is as long as they are going to help Obama turn this country around.

I thin what I want most is the Rebarficans out of the white house.

You asked: What do women want?

My brain on the body of a 25 year old

12 inches daily

A bigger diamond

All of my bills paid

A new LV handbag

A BMW

A house in California, Ireland and Italy

A Pool boy

A winter boy

A red carpet to the gate of my own plane

Good tasting fat/cholesterol free food

This fricking political crap to end

Want more? let me know.

I'm pretty much in agreement with most of your readers here (and I'm pretty sure you know which ones I'm not) and I for one was quite thrilled when Barak made it damn clear yesterday that he was in charge of the party (not just the titular head...and no, Sling, that doesn't mean what you think it means) AND in charge of the process regarding his running mate.

If I were him I wouldn't take Hillary if she came on a plate with a cheese sampler, for a whole lotta reasons. He needs to do, as he said he would do, which is to make a careful decision about the person who would be best for the job.

Who I personally think is Mom, but since she said she wouldn't accept it, maybe you or Iwanski should be on the short list.

Well that was fun!
I guess I really didn't articuate my point very well.
I was struck by the whole,'If Hillary can't have it,no woman should' mentality that seemed to be perfectly acceptable to the 'experts'..
I invited everyone to feel free to comment, and am well pleased with the turn out! :)

What do women want politically,,, for me I could care less about abortion issues... I personally am prochoice. Other issues that I am concerned about are as follows...
quality health care and I am an advocate for insurance companies to up the tab on complementary medicine or alternative therapies... I'm concerned about our public schools... our national dropout rate is over 33% with some cities having over 50%! SAD! We need to revamp the education system! Our media is nothing to brag about either... Lastly, inflation is a huge concern!

diane- I have a particularly nagging question regarding education here in the Golden State.
What happened to all the money for public schools that the California lottery was earmarked for??
The Governator continues to 'borrow' from school revenues, while in the meantime, several schools in my little corner of NorCal have been forced to close due to lack of funding!..
Even now,the line for lottery tickets at 7-11 ain't gettin' any shorter.
Thanks for weighing in!

Personally i think she'd accomplish more in a cabinet level post- Secretary of HHS would be a perfect job for her truthfully.

I don't care if they nominate a three ringed lemur- as long as the ticket is strong enough to win. I'm a little more concerned about the platform right at the moment than I am a VP...

At 9:28 AM , Blogger Lorraine said...

Cuz, did you see my post the other day? HHS was where I went, too. See? Related.

I myself am having a hard time understanding how Hillary's loss is a matter of sexism. I keep hearing how she was disrespected and it seems to boil down to the fact that since she wasn't the nominee this was a blow for feminism.

I still don't get it. Which is all to say that I can't really help you out with your quandry, even though this is the second time I've commented on the subject.

And I agree with Hat that Sling, as always, comported himself with dignity and grace. The comment about Obama sounding like Osama really bothered me a lot but I guess I'll have to get used to that...it's not like that ain't going to be an issue among some groups and you can guarantee that the Swift Boaters will be all over that sort of shit.

Oooh, Rainey said "shit".

So, does this mean I'm only gonna get a crappy Cabinet Position instead of my wish list? Politics suck.

My apologies if my Obama (sounds like you know who??) offended people - its just a joke doing the rounds - there were plenty pointed at Hillary because of Bill's fooling about - It is just a joke for Gods sake - Maybe an Australian thing and didn't translate too well. We tend to knock our politicians even those we like, just to keep their feet on the ground. Its kind of the Tall Poppy syndrome with us. It is odd for many of us to see the almost deification and fervour which happens with your elections and you realise that although we share the same language, almost, and a fair amount of the culture, as with the English and the Irish we are different. I mean a country who's OM was caught eating his own ear wax has earned the right to crack up about the sine of your pollies its like they have been cast in crystal.

And before I lose any more friends ; ) the answer to Slings question re Hillary and women's rights etc is that no matter the age race sex culture religion it should be the best qualified for the job who gets the job always and not some politically correct bullshit to give even more sop to the masses.

Can o worms Sling - good one!

What I meant was "PM was caught eating his own ear wax has earned the right to crack up about the shine of your pollies its like they have been cast in crystal.

And our ear wax eating PM Kevin with no shine at all (believe it or no) is bring the troops home from Iraq by July. We are over the moon about that.

Hat-tasia- I learned a little diplomacy on the campaign trail. ;)

Rainey-I don't think sexism,or racism ever really entered into the whole process. Not in any significant way anyhow.

Rosie- Politics really does suck don't it..Hey!..Let's talk about religion!

middle child- You haven't lost any mates around here doll!
Funny thing is,I figured people might get irritated with me for suggesting that femminists had their heads up their ass...oops..did I say that out loud? ;)

Hillary cut her own throat, the Iraq war was a clear sham and she knew it , voted for it anyway...
Obama will lose if he picks her...I apologize if this sounds un-PC, but he needs a strong, white male with impeccable military creds who can also bring in a Red state or two (Jim Webb)

"I mean,face it,the Vice-President really only has two functions."

Um. No. Not any more. The current VP's job is to pull the strings on the Presidential Puppet. And start wars.
That needs to end.
