I wish I didn't know now,what I didn't know then..

There's this weird paradox that occurs over time, that a body should be able to pass along to their progeny.

I mean,..if we can caution our children not to stick beans up their noses, and have them dutifully comply, why can't we impress upon them the tragic consequences of handing out their heart, like as if it were some kind of renewable resource?..

Well there's a paragraph that only works if you can hear the sound in my head,..so I'll rephrase.

'Lover's Cross'

Sadly dear, some things they really do have to learn on their own..

It is true, but I think it helps when they parent can be sympathetic and talk to their children about it.

Oh so true and wise. But learning things like this can only be done on our own.

all the adults i know can't control their hearts so i tell my kids to find a dog if they want a true heart.

otherwise, cast your line and enjoy the ride.

Ah, mi estimado amigo maravilloso dulce, ..... You can only tell your children of the pain of your heart..Their hearts? They will seek their own pain, and you can do nothing to stop them....That, my dearest Sling, is called.....life.

Of course, you are all right in this.
I was watching this thing on Discovery the other day,and the narrator remarked that such and such amimal mates for life, and I started thinkin' about what it is that people do.
..We're a strange breed.

I haven't learned yet how not to hand out my heart like its a renewable resource! Then againn, I'm not convinced it isn't a renewable resource.

I think our hearts are designed to be stopmed on, nurtured, kept warm, hit with a brick, dropped from a high place and coddled in warmth...all of that,,,the hard thing is to be able to protect your heart without denying it what it needs to be a heart....o dearie me I haven'e a clue at my old age...

What? You got your children to NOT stick beans up their noses? You want so much!

And anyway, I belong to the school of it being one of the greatest ambitions - to love, rather than to wait to be loved. Which means the beans thing really does suffice.

I'm really not seeing the problem with this beans-up-the-nose thing.

So much for insightful.
