Does this couch make me look fat?

Holy.Flyin'.Crap.
Literally..

I've was bit by some malicious intestinal ninja yesterday, that put me entirely off my feed.
Even the thought of eating sent waves of nausea rolling through my guts, sending me,yet again, rushing to the bathroom to ,well,..sit down.

I told you that story,so I could tell you this one.

Odd as it may sound,it wasn't all that bad.
I couldn't eat,or smoke,or drink cheap brown liquor, but I did get to spend an entire day vegging on the couch, lounging all snuggly in my pajamas, and covered up with my favorite Afghan..the blanket kind,..not that stunning green-eyed chick that was on the cover of 'Life' magazine a few years back..But I digress.

I guess I'm sayin' that it was all reminiscent of those times,as a wee lad, that I'd stay home sick from school, watching cartoons, sipping 7-Up (it's medicinal, you know),and surfing porn sites on the internet coloring in some brand new color books my mom bought me for just such an occasion.
Maybe it sounds wierd, but it was,..comforting.

I don't know exactly how to 'splain that, but I do know this!
Come bedtime, physically drained as I was,I fell into the deepest, and most recuperative sleep I've experienced in years.

It was the sleep of the innocent, and Lord he'p me,it was worth it.

I'd like some of that "sleep of the innocent" though thinking of my life, how could that be possible?

Hope you get the bug out of your system.

Charlene- That's what I'm sayin'..I hardly recognized it! ;)
I'm feeling 100% this morning.
I don't know what it was,but it has passed.

We in this household that has so recently been acquainted with food poisoning are really happy for you that it was just bug poisoning. We are also a little envious that you got all the benefits of cozy childhood sickliness and none of the 'when the hell will this END' awfulness of what we got.

Did you miss the hugs and forehead kisses, though?

Anyway, you conjured up the childhood sweetie-pie-ness of being sick really well The sipping 7-Up counts for a couple chapters. It's kind of a pavlovian cocktail for me, even now. A sip of 7-Up and I FEEL sick.

I almost hate to admit this, but I used to sort of like it when my kids were sick when they were younger. I would take the day off to keep them home and we'd snuggle on the couch watching cartoons and dozing. It was kind of blissful.

haha at your favorite Afghan!

was it really a blanket, or did you get sucked into buying one of those snuggies?

glad you were able to get a great night of rest after being sick.

Booda Babe- I was counting my blessings,in that there really was no pain involved, just that realization that it would be most embarrassing should I find myself more than 10 feet from the bathroom.
My Pavlovian response to 7-Up is the opposite of yours..It wouldn't surprise me if they discovered that it cures cancer! ;)

Secret Agent Woman- If it helps you to feel less ashamed of admitting that, know that those times are just as blissful to your children.
Moms ROCK!

mi- Ha!..It was a real blanket, but I gotta tell ya,those snuggies look pretty damm comfortable. :)

I can totally relate to this! When I'm really, really sick, I feel like I have no choice but to lie around and relax, completely guilt-free...I love the "guilt-free" part. :) :)

glad you're feeling better. 7 Up and a nap with a comfy warm Afgan. Not a bad way to spend the day.

Yellerdawg- Boy howdy!..I was runnin' on empty by the time I was done. ;)

Miss HP- Ha!..Guilt free is definitely a big part of it.
'I don't feeeel goood!' helps you avoid all those pesky obligations.

Mom- Being self-indulgent for a day was pretty cool. :)

i find steaming hot tea followed by a few ounces of reeses pieces to be the best medicine.

Thinker- It's a little known scientific fact that the internet was invented in 1903,by German immigrant Hans Googleberg.
It failed to catch on,however, due to the popularity of Alexander Graham Bell's 'Maxi-Pad',which came out the same year.
..Look it up.

Billy P.- Where were you when I needed you?

Dude, what's up with your Facebook account? Iwanski said you had to get a new one and all, but I couldn't accept your new friend invite that was sent to me. Whazzup with that? :)

Miss HP- I got 86'd for telling a racist he had tiny testicles from doing steroids..He was a complete asshole.
Then I mde a second account, and accidently linked it to the first one,so Facebook kicked that one too!
..I just now made a 3rd account,using my real name...dammit.
I will be sending out friend requests as soon as I'm sure Facebook doesn't disable it.
..Prolly tomorrow. :)

Your body needed the rest, sometimes there's no point arguing with it, snuggling under an Afghan in your jim-jam's was obviously the right medicine for the day. Glad to hear your all bright eyed and bushy-tailed again (smile).

Facebook scares me.

As a mom-- got to tell you when your kids get this way all you want to do is hold them-- 'cause even at 16 they are innocent again.

When i was a kid i got no sympathy when i was sick....it was "get out of bed, go to school anyway, blow your nose don't sniff, eat that bologna sandwich it's won't make you throw up, clean the toilet where you hit it with that sandwich" maybe not that harsh but close. As an old lady I don't have time to be sick...got the flu rosemary.... clean the house anyway even tho it takes the whole day, sweep the garages, fix dinner.....i can rest later.

Those days were just wonderful especially if you were not too sick...Dad always came home for a cooked lunch (he worked closeby) so we had to stay in bed till then but after that mysteriously improved we'd end up under blankies with little treats being brought in by mum...sigh
