A requiem..
Ah, back through the glen I rode again and my heart with grief was sore, For I parted then with valiant men whom I never shall see more .
But to and fro in my dreams I go and I'd kneel and pray for you,
For slavery fled, O glorious dead, When you fell in the foggy dew...

Your two Memorial Day posts were fitting for the kind of memories that his day should evoke....not last years BBQ or the time of day and traffic. Thank you Sling.
which do i love more..sinead or the chieftans...or them both together...sigh*
rosie-You're welcome doll.
yellowdog G.-I'm partial to the Chieftains.
I first heard them paired with James Gallway...sigh*
Her voice sounds like the way trees would sing...if trees had vocal chords...and abstract logic. (shuffles off)
Auld Hat-There's an entire section of the orchestra dedicated to singing trees..Woodwinds..
Abstract knowledge,..not so much. ;)
that was just great!
Aaah good ol' Sinead -- whatever happened to her???
She became a lesbian. Although, one might argue that nobody "becomes" a lesbian, rather she realized she is a lesbian. And now you know.
I played that on a show a few months back...the Chieftains have played with everybody...lotsa good vinyl!
Citymouse-Yeah,I love that stuff!
princess banter-Damm..I wish I knew!..I asked her out on a date once, and she refused.
So I asked her,"What are you?,..A lesbian?..
To which she replied,"What are you?..The alternative??..
auld hat- ;)
allan-..and everyone they play with gets top billing. The guys are truly awesome gentlemen.
I'm saving a "Nancy Griffith and the Chieftains" for when I want to really depress my readers..You know,..in a good way. :)

in case anyone is keeping score.
Sinead once said that she shaved her head because she was too pretty. A very troubled teen impulse... and at her age... Well, I can't imagine her being as pretty with hair as she is without it.
Tag!
Great stuff. Both artists are favorites of mine.
Have a great weekend, Sling.
Sinead is a favourite and the Foggy Dew is a favourite of hers...our youngest learnt this many years ago and sings this song so beautifully ...makes me almost cry...
