Just when you thought it was safe...

There is a phenomenon that occurs in the blogosphere, that has been a source of constant amazement to me since I began putting my thoughts out into the ether, some 18 months ago.
People come back..On purpose!

*????*

Okay,I can understand hitting "next blog",and getting unceremoniously delivered to my little bastion of self-medicated pedantry, but the fact that readers will,on occasion, deliberately return to grace this effort with their own brand of humor, and humanity,is something that I never really expected...

Just thought it was about time I acknowledged Y'all, and offered a profound "Thank you!"

This was on my mind, because I continue to gain new friends through the inexplicable wonder that is blogging...
I told you that story,so I could tell you this one;

I've been tagged by a new blogpal, with the delightfully prurient moniker,(maybe it's just me,..what are the odds?),more cowbell,to list 8 interesting facts about myself...Lord he'p me...I love this stuff. :)...Let's start with a little name dropping shall we?

  • I went to a continuation high school in the 10th grade. My biology teacher,Mr.Peterson, had some connections to the Northrop plant in So.Cal,and arranged for me,and 4 other students to meet with 3 honest to God astronauts!..Lovell,Haise,and Swigert, having recently returned from their harrowing misadventure on Apollo 13...I was so flustered that all I could think of asking was,"Were you scared?"..."Yes!" was their unified reply.

  • I've posted about the delicious tuna sandwich that the charming Ms. Nan Graham made for me before, but I number that encounter among the more memorable moments in my life.

  • In case you're ever tending bar at a popular mountain resort, remember that Frankie Avalon enjoys an extra shot of Bailey's Irish cream in his coffee, and the lovely Vickie Lawrence prefers an ice cold Budweiser,(would you like a glass with that Ms. Lawrence?".."No thanks,..it comes in one.")..just sayin'.

..Moving right along.

  • All of my childhood memories are in black and white, and I never dreamed in color 'till I turned 30..I don't know why.

  • I memorized all my "helping verbs"(is,am,are, was, were,be,being, been, has, have, had,do does, did, shall, will, should, would, may, might, must, can, could) just in case it was the Final Jeopardy answer.

  • So far,it hasn't been,but I'm prepared none the less.
  • The only thing I'm really afraid of,(besides those little Styrofoam "peanuts"),is Potato bugs..They look like people that died, went to Hell, and came back as insects...I just don't like it.
  • I wish that I had told Jessie that I loved her..Every.Single.Day.

Follows the requisite rules:
1) Post the rules, then list 8 things about yourself.
2) At the end of the post, tag and link to 8 other people
3) Leave a comment at those sites, letting them know they've been tagged, and asking them to come read the post so they know what to do.

These rules seem a little ambiguous to me,so I will revise them.
1) Tag 3 people to use the phrase,"How was I supposed to know_______?",in their blogs...
2) Be creative,and have fun
3)Feel free to change the rules in any fashion you wish...This is America after all!
I'm tagging;
Here's the 80's..
Gina..and
danielle.

Okay, before I actually read this post, I just had to stop and comment about your line: bastion of self-medicated pedantry. Gawd I love when you talk dirty! Okay, heading back up. Be down in a minute...

Okay then...whew!
Well, I know more about you everytime someone tags you so I say toot toot! Let's tag everyone we lurve! And your alternate rules are great. I will be stealing the idea for my own tagation. Tagation? Sure, why not.
And you met Frankie Avalon? Ooooo, big childhood crush. (I crushed on everyone my mom crushed on...no wait, I'm saving this story for the tag list) neener neener

I keep coming back to see if there's any beer left.

And of course there never is.

The B&W memories thing -- interesting! Love the Vickie Lawrence quote -- did you meet her? Was she with the astronauts? Was she scared?

And Jessie --- ditto Rosemary. wow. (I sometimes wish I'd told Aaron yes...)

Oh and potato bugs? Dude, that is kind of funny, sorry, because that's usually the one bug that people aren't scared of. I'll look at them more closely next time, though...

rosie-Jessie is a story for another time, when I want to jerk a serious tear from my readers...I'm familiar with the moth of which you speak..piece o' cake!

Hat-I was especially pleased with that line..Frankly,it made my nipples hard..

Hat II-"Tagation!"..so let it be written.
Yes sunshine,I met Frankie...He sat by the Swiss fireplace with his Baily's and coffee, and tried ever so hard to be recognized..

Dan-All you ever have to do is tell the doorman your a friend of mine!..The beer will flow like wine..er...you know what I mean.

more cowbell-Vickie was polite and sweet, and yes, that's a quote. She and a companion were the only ones at the bar on a Monday morning. It was my policy not to bug celebrities,so there wasn't a lot of conversation between us.
As for Jessie..I'll put a suitable blog together sometime.

Wow I'm impressed you are aware that you're dreaming in colored/B&W. I never notice... neither do I notice what language I speak in my dream (cuz I heard somewhere that whatever language you speak in when dreaming is considered your first language). Amazing... I'm generally just bad when it comes to remembering my dreams!

i don't think anyone will be able to top meeting an astronaut.

even the pope can't get closer to god than an astronaut.

princess banter-I've read that women in general dream in color.I didn't know the language thing.I can get around in Spanish, but I'm sure I've never spoken it in dreams.

Hat-We takes what we can get. ;)

the rube-Those were the days back then.It was exciting for me...Now if I can just meet the pope!

dude, potato bugs and their fraternal twin, isopods are scary as hell. They got nothing on centipedes though. Uuuuuuugh. Now that I'm thinking about them, I feel them crawling on me.

Hey cutie! Thanks for the tag. Requisite post coming. I'm with rosemary on the Jessie thing. And I am with you 1000000000000% on potato bugs. Do you know, not everyone knows what they are? In fact, most people here in Idaho have no clue. I think they're a California phenomenon. I hate those disgusting things and am SO glad I haven't seen one in about 30 years. When my mom used to make us go harvest her garden - we always ran into them. They are DISGUSTING and SCARY!!! NO critter is scarier - except maybe a... nope, not even that. And your description of them is perfect. Shudder!!!!!!!!!!!!

alan-yeah!..like they come back as nasty ass potato bugs!

monica-I really don't mind centipedes.
I hate the way potato bugs can look at you like.. .like...like they KNOW something..

gina-In some places, they are known as "Jerusalem Crickets".
A demon spawn from hell,by any other name, would still give me the heebie-jeebies.

Name dropper!!!
I wonder why people read you too. :)
But then, here I am. And why do we read other blogs and why do people read my blog and why does this blogosphere exist and why can't a candle burn at both ends?

Blogger is eating my comments. I KNOW I responded and I passed the tag along to a few others.

As always...
