Decision '08 !!
The Presidential candidates, and their Vice-Presidential running mates have been decided!
Well,..the Republican candidates need to be officially nominated, but that's really just a formality at this point.
I think it's safe to say that all the players have been cast in bronze.
In any case, our nation lies at the cusp of history!
Every living, breathing American is poised on the brink of a monumental decision.
One that will have a profound effect on all of us.
A decision whose ramifications will resonate throughout countless generations to follow.
Probably the most important decision set before us in the 21st century!!
The question is,and the decision that I'm certain remains foremost in the hearts and minds of every patriotic citizen must surely be..
'Who will we get to play them in the movie??'..
I'm thinkin' the best choice to portray the young and vibrant Barack Obama should be..
Will Smith!..sans facial hair,of course.
Who better to capture the wisdom and experience of Joe Biden..
..than that talented Hollywood icon,Mr. Gene Hackman.
Personally, every time I look at John Mccain,I can't help but see..
Richard Dreyfuss.
This morning was the first time I'd been introduced to Alaska's Governor,Sarah Palin..I find her very attractive,in that gracefully matured kind of way.
Very much like..
The lovely and versatile,Ms. Diane Keaton.
Of course, your own conscience must guide you in this pivotal decision.
Just remember,..history will be our judge.
Have a great holiday weekend kids!

Great choices all.
Should be an interesting couple of months in our future.
I want to vote for Diane Keeton, please.
mom- Should be most interesting indeed!
Either way it goes, barriers will fall.
austexgrl- Excellent!..Looks like we may be in on the ground floor of a grass roots movement, ;)
I love Diane Keeton, but to me Sarah Palin looks so much like Sandra Bullock. Your other choices are on the mark.
BTW, who is going to play you in "Sling, the Movie"?
if steve mcqueen was still alive we could get him to play you...
i always thought bette midler would be good cast as me..
a much younger me..
mmmmmuuuuuch younger
Richard Dreyfus is a great choice for McCain. I had to wait on Dreyfus once long ago when I was still working in restaurants. He's a prick, so like I said, perfect choice!
Yoda would be a good choice to play McPain. Looks like him. Dianne Keaton is too wonderful to play the so called "feminist that doesn't think women should be allowed to choose."
Oh Sorry I am a little opinionated today.
your good-- real good!
Jan- You know,Sandra isn't a bad choice.
I also considered casting Tina Fey in the part.
I'm trying to get Harrison Ford to play me in the movie,..but he hasn't returned any of my calls.
Yellerdawg- Steve would be great!
We both do our own stunts you know.
Evil G.- I saw Dreyfuss playing a shithead conservative presidential candidate in 'The American President' with Micheal Douglas..He's perfect!
Sage- You just feel free to drop by with your opinion anytime kid! :)
Mouse- Thanks doll! :)
heh heh heh
Buck said on his blog that Sarah Palin looks like Peggy Hill. *grin*
MHP- HA!..I hadn't even thought about the animated version...
Great way for the kiddies to learn about politics!
Good casting choices!:)
Whatever happens from here on, it's going to be historical.
Except that I've seen your work and it gives lie to what I'm about to say - but just pretend I'm that guidance councillor we all had back in High School: Give up cabinet making - your real talent lies in casting! Sorry that's movie casting not iron casting or fly casting. Damn I do sound like that damned guidance councillor!
serena- I'm really excited about the prospects.
One more notch in the 'Witness to history' belt.
willym- Hmmm..You may have something there!
Perhaps I'll go shopping for a new casting couch.
Sunday pm...down here is the central part of Texas we are on full alert, I am a nurse, I LOVE taking care of sick people!!! Tonight, patients being flown in from Galveston, and bussed in from Louisiana...somehow I would feel better with a Black Man that has experiece and integretity and is honest..than a 44 year old female that has governed a town of 5,ooo...but that is just my very humble and biased opinion....And then again folks, there are those that do not believe in GLOBAL WARMING..I am almost ready to move to another country...
austexgrl- I have my own bias as well.
For the last eight years I've watched the Right Wing Reactionaries set us on a course backwards in virtually every aspect of our lives.
I bear extreme prejudice against those that would deliberately set out to tear down every single thing this country has always stood for, which is exactly what the Bush administration is about.
The historical implications of this election take a back seat,in my mind,to my desperate hope that after November,we'll be blessed with more enlightened leadership.
Why not elect the actors themselves, they'd probably have more common sense than all the show ponies... er but didn't Ronald Reagan play himself, or was that Arnie.
Its got me beat but what qualifications exactly does one have to have to become a president. Theres been some real loony tunes in the past few decades.
Sling's Central Casting. Nice ring to it. That's nice of you to spend your cyber-space finding what's good in Ms. Palin. The more it sinks in, the more disturbed I am that they'd even try to foist her on me. I'm hoping the GOP delegates will refuse to usher her in.
Actually, much as I adore Diane Keaton, I get more of a Tina Fey vibe off Sarah.
middle child- It's not surprising that you are not familiar with the way American politics works.
You see, first you establish yourself by becoming an actor,or buying a professional sports team,or building your fortune during prohibition.
Then, you can parlay that into a Grammy award for having the #1 pop music hit, building your fan base to the point where the media endorsements alone can put you on the ballot.
Now,it's important that the skeletons in your closet be properly waxed and buffed to a high sheen,so as to appeal to the aesthetic nature of our personal misadventures.
After that, and with a little help from improperly calibrated voting machines, you might just find yourself sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office!..I hope that helps clear things up.
booda- Crap!..I hope they don't nix Sarah!..I can't for the life of me think of anyone to play the part of Rush Limbaugh.
Rainey- Like I told jan,I did consider Tina!..but I decided against her due to her lack of experience.
Get it!!..Ahahaha!..I crack myself up.
ohhh Peggy Hill, that is a good one! Excellent post Sling!
Lost- That was a good eye on Buck's part! :)
I'm thinkin' about getting R.Crumb to do the animation*..
*Bonus points to anyone that knows who R.Crumb is.
Crumb is a caricaturist/cartoonist of some note...some say a little ill repute...was he from the late '50's or early 60's.... they made a movie about his life. don and I watched it some years back. Am i right???
how many points do I get?
I just can't believ you would be so insulting to Dreyfus. Although he'd probably have a field day with that role!
middle kid- Don't ya know I had to go Wiki him to check on his work in the 50's and 60's..not much reference there.
But!..He was one of the founders of underground comix (ZAP),and created the characters 'Fritz the Cat',and my personal favorite,'Mr. Natural' back in the late 60's and 70's.
You get 387 bonus points, which have no redemption value whaatsoever.
citizen- I don't think Rick would mind all that much.
He's not shy about portraying vapid,self-centered politicians.
