For example..

I think I may be getting the hang of this whole,'Hear what you wanna hear' style of interpreting what the opposition party has to say.
Not 15 minutes ago,President Bush gave a 5 minute speech in an effort to calm fears about the dismal state of the Stock Market,in which he assured us that the administration was 'on top of it'..
The Stock Market's immediate reaction?..It fell 10 points!

Now,even I know that one thing has nothing to do with the other, but at least it's the truth.

Actually, it does have a lot to do with it, Bush's pronouncements usually cause market unease at best, downturns at worst...he cancelled a speech today because he didn't wish to sound 'alarmist' or 'political' about the next Dust Bowl...we used to have Presidents like FDR and JFK who would GIVE speeches to calm our fears. Now we have one who scares us just by existing.
Christ, remember when Carter told us to carpool and cut back on our thermostats?...he got laughed out of office for that. If we had listened instead of laughing, we'd be living in a better world right now. Just sayin'.

allan- Of course you're right!
In the big picture,it does have an impact.
What I did was take a 'snapshot' of this morning's events out of context, and use it to make a point...my best Rush Limbaugh impersonation.

The other side of the coin is that the Stock Market had gained some 200 points up to the time of his speech, and will naturally ebb and flow over the course of the day.

Sage- Not wierd at all kid!
In this case, one thing definitely has something to do with the other.

these speeches are a little predictable.

wouldn't it be refreshing to hear someone say: "it's all a piece of shit, run for the hills!"

Lost- You're not alone.
Hell, his own party cringes whenever he opens his mouth.

Billy P.- Ha!..Now that you mention it,Bush was in and outta there in 5 minutes.
At first I figured he just didn't want to answer any questions, but now I'm thinkin' he was in a mad rush to pack his bags.

It's not a coincidence. People have no confidence in our "president" any more.

Let's hope President Obama can restore everyone's confidence. :)

I could get used to this, you suffering through the speeches and the mind numbing and just passing on your notes.
