I've thought about this whole AIG mess.
While I can't for the life of me fathom how anyone of good conscience would be able to accept 'Bonus' money for perpetrating a disgraceful financial debacle of this magnitude,I do understand that a contract is a contract,and we are obliged to live up to our end.
In an effort to reconcile the letter of the law,with the spirit of the law,..I've decided we should just bite the bullet,and pay them exactly what they've earned.
..I can live with that.

NOTE: AIG's CEO Liddy just told Congress that there are some employees that have offered to return 100% of their bonuses..Carry on.
I think the making a special tax just for those rat bastards and taxing the bonus money at 100% is the perfect solution. However, like you, I'm fine with them just hanging themselves.

Doralong- I'm not clear on how ex post facto considerations might preclude taxing bonuses that are already paid out..I'm kinda leaning with Barney Frank's idea of suing them,as major stockholders,to return the money on the grounds of non-performance.
..or hanging.
