You must have seen this coming..

It's a little known fact that I was an 18th century seafarin' adventurer in a previous life.

Back in the day of tall ships, and exotic ports o' call that lay along the uncharted latitudes and longitudes of the seven briny seas,I lived the life of a nautical nomad, untethered from the terrestrial concerns of my landlocked brethren.

Oh..They imagined themselves to be 'Masters of the planet'.
A foolish and prideful claim when one considers the fact that our world is covered nearly three-quarters strong by the unfathomable depths of great angry oceans, over which we exert little,if any, control.

In the Official Intergalactic Encyclopedia of Habitable Worlds, this is the picture that represents a typical view of the Earth's surface..

..These flights of fabricated fancy came upon me whilst touring the Monterey Aquarium, and bring me to today's Jukebox Video.
A hearty sea chanty, best sung while sharing a keg of rum on deck with your fellow adventurers..

'Calypso'

It's Friday,..and life is a childhood dream in Sling's Domain.

Man marks the earth with ruin. His control stops with the sea.

Damn, I wish I'd written that before Tennyson did.

Do tell us more stories of your life on the sea.
I miss Jon Denver. His music always touches my soul.

I always love that this song was about both sailing and science.

I'm not too crazy about oceans. Love the edges of them but to be surrounded by nothing but water, no thanks. I always thought John Denver songs went better with a cup of cocoa, not rum.

Yellerdawg- You rock!..Saving Billy's namesake is worth a ton of Kharma points.
I'll keep your love of J.D.just between us.

Jan- Excellent!..I waish I'd taken credit for it before you gave credit to Tennyson.

Mom- Oh,I had tons of adventures on the high seas back then1
I'll tell ya about them just as soon as the statute of limitations runs out. ;)

Citizen- ..and spirit, and the joy of being part of something magnificent!

Thinker- Real pirates drink rum..Just sayin'.

Billy P.- It's not for the faint of heart.
Even the rarest genius can take one false step, and the ocean will declare him an idiot, and sentence him to death.

John Denver was a favourite of mine...nothing better when you were feeling grand and expansive...there is only one sort of music that doesn't thrill me and thats jazz...just alien to my world I guess...I am an inland gal...love the mountains and the couds scudding about...and here I am on a flood plain near the mighty Pacific... I love the edges as does Random Thinker...

Can't get the damn video to go, but i liked John Denver too. Water...not so much. I can't swim. Weird because all of my mother's family were seafaring folks...I think i was formerly in the time of Henry VIII...but with a shower and toothbrush.
