Ratz..
Les Paul, who pioneered the development of the solid body electric guitar, paving the way for the future of Rock n' Roll, died yesterday at the age of 94 from complications due to pneumonia.
I don't think it would be hyperbole to say that anyone who has ever attempted to wrestle every last strain of nuance out of their git' fiddle, owes Les a special note of gratitude for his innovation, and inspiration.
Chet Atkins drops in on Les briefly in today's Friday Jukebox Video!
..That sort of thing almost never happens to me.

Another genius gone... sad.
Doralong- Boy howdy,..we're just losing 'em one after another aren't we?
Sad. I always thought he was the coolest guy. Looked like he belonged on the Lawrence Welk show but then he would start playing and ...... WOW.
Thinker- I'll tell you what really saddens me,and I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't think very many young guitarists really understand the roots of their craft.
At least, that's the impression I get when I listen to some of the electric noise that passes as music these days.
Yeah,..I'm a cranky old bastard.
Good choice for Friday listening pleasure. I miss the sounds of good guitars.
Have you noticed recently, that at our age, a lot of the originals and good oldies are dying off? Mom warned about this phase of development....sighhh...he will be missed by many many folks....
I look at the floor and see it needs sweeping.
Jan- There were so many good vids to pick from, particularly with Mary Ford, but I wanted to make this one about the guitar.
Glad you enjoyed it!
CS- Yes,I have noticed that!
Of course,it's the nature of things, and as it should be.
Allan- Still, our guitars gently weep buddy.
Nice Vid. I wonder if he knew where it was going all those years ago..
that guy can play a guitar just like ringin a bell.
He lived to a rip old age, though, didn't he?
Grish- I don't think he could predict where it was going, but I do think he knew where he was going with it.
..Does that make sense?
Billy P.- I gotta admit,(I'm such an accoustic snob)Chuck Berry really took the technology and ran with it!
Rock & Roll is better for it.
Secret Agent Woman- Yes,he did..It must have been gratifying for him to have seen the results of his ideas.
he was and still is...the man..
Yellerdawg- He was a gentle man, that made an enormous difference.
I really admired him.
i always felt sad when he and mary ford got a divorce...
RIP, Les Paul. You were a great gift to the world.
I didn't realise who he was till after he died. Wiw. Can't play the music...am at Alison's and she is down the street...her computer has sound I know it but not game to fiddle as she has a mixer etc soundie stuff linked up to it...
