Fall Around O-Town

We have a preponderance of fiery red maples here in O-Town..They're among my most favorite.

This is the view from my front porch..Kind of a blustery day,but the color palette is very pleasing.

No zoom here!..This little grey squirrel allowed me to approach within a few inches,..

..before bounding off into a nearby tree,in search of a suitable place to lay her eggs.

It's a little hard to tell, but the morning dew has turned to ice on this hardy rose.

'I'm not cleaning that up!'

This magnificent fungus sprouted up within 24 hours of a heavy rain storm!
It's a little bigger than a basketball,..more like the size of those red rubber 'dodgeballs',like the one Tommy Kratzmar hit me in the face with back in 3rd grade, and made me cry..In the 5th grade,I threw a rock at him and knocked him off a cinder block wall, causing him to break his arm..So it all turned out quite nicely in the end.

..Top view of above fungus.
I'm counting this as Fall color.

Empty nest syndrome..

A typical O-Towner,in traditional garb.

Or...like the red rubber dodgeball used as a makeshift head, in a bad attempt at pulling the wool over mom's eyes. xoxo.

Wow, beautiful pics! :) And I'm glad to see that someone in the United States is enjoying a fall WITHOUT snow. (We woke up to a couple of inches this morning. Boo hoo!)

Was 'atmospheric' your theme? How did you do that, nearly capture the temperature and the scent in the air? Were you shooting with that intention or did they all just ... come out that way? Even your rat ass squirrel looked cozy and friendly, the kinda gal who'd serve me a nice cup of hot chocolate. (It's fricking cold here and there's no wine in the house and I'm NOT leaving to get any, so hot chocolate's the beverage of the night.)

Such beautiful photos...and we don't have squirrels so thats a novelty for me...good clear shots as well. That tree is amazing...so you are heading to winter...today it was so humid and HOT!!! I just came back home put the fans on and the cooler...will think about the electricity bills later...I am not made of the same tough stuff my ancestors were...and its not getting hotter...was much hotter in the 60's but I was younger...its even too hot for the cats to enjoy...so wintry photos are a treat.

Anonypoop- HA!..You should tell the Slinglet that that trick was already old when I was her age!

Miss HP- We were this close to getting snow, but it passed us by.
It has snowed in O-Town on occasion, but not in the five years I've been here.

Booda Babe- It was my intent to try and capture that crisp Fall whatever-it-is thing..I'm pleased that came across in some small measure. :)
..Now I have a craving for Peppermint Schnapps, and hot chocolate.

Middle child- No squirrels in Australia?..I didn't know that.
A lot of people consider them pests over here, but I find them very entertaining.
It's 34 freakin' degrees farenheit here in O-Town..so some Summer sun sounds just fine to me.

Mom- Thanks doll..O-Town really is a lovely place to live.

Sage- They are magnificent, and they are everywhere!..only not today.
Everything is pretty much brown and crumbly.
But even that can be beautiful.

Thinker- You're quite welcome. :)

Yellerdawg- That fungus/mushroom thing was massive!..and The Partner was gonna chop it up with a shovel before I stopped him, just in time..

Secret Agent Woman- I stockpiled these pix over the last couple of months.
It's looking a whole lot more like winter as we speak.

Y'know, if those idiots over at Nat'l Geographic don't wise up soon, you could just start your own publication. Sling's shots? Maybe? No? Okay, then.

Squirrel eggs are good if you don't mind the climb. That fungus looks evil though.

The squirrels in Florida are mammalian and therefore dont lay eggs they suckle their young. Not sure where o-town is but Im pretty sure no eggs involved there either. Some things I know, others things, not so much. Bonnie

What was I thinking?..Of course squirrels don't lay eggs.
..I meant bats.

Yellerdawg- It would have to be growing out of the biggest cowpie ever!
