A rose,by any other name, would smell as sweet...

I've managed to elude the grim reaper for over half a century.
During that time,I have accumulated a variety of monikers, devised to define my character by it's least common denominator.
To wit;
1)Kike
2)Kraut
3)Bastard
4)Hebe
5)Asshole
6)Nazi
7)Chauvinist
8)Cracker
9)Hillbilly
10)Misogynist...
To name a few..Very few.
Add to these some various and sundry expletives, and you don't even begin to scratch the surface..
These things do not diminish me.
They are nothing more than the tools of the ignorant, used to build monuments to nothing...
This was on my mind.

"They are nothing more than the tools of the ignorant, used to build monuments to nothing" Are these builders within or without? You are the definer of your destiny. You write your epithet.
Very good post, thought provoking for sure.

See, that's why I like you...I have been told I am in no particular order: bitch, fuck up, stupid, loser, misdirected, stupid, horrible wifemothersisterdaughterfriend, frizz head, stupid, wop, spaghetti sucker, stupid and on and on....most of these were from friends and family which is why I like my blogger friends. And yes, I do internalize these words and I have felt diminished...but not so much anymore. See, that's why I like you.

Hmmm - triggered by the Imus thing? In general I agree with you, but there is power in words, especially when spoken in a public forum.

CS-The power of words is not lost on me.If words were only ever used to inspire, rather than denigrate, nothing would please me more.
