...and then one thing led to another.
Yesterday,I wanted to request a favorite of mine over at Here's the 80's.
"Oh Montana" was released in 1983,and featured John Denver, with Emmylou Harris.
Well,I couldn't find that video, but during my search I ran across, "To know him is to love him" (Emmylou,Dolly, and Linda).
My good friends lorraine and JP posted that one for me.
Lorraine in turn, has posted a Neil Young tune performed by those same three stunning vocalists on her blog as well!
Like I said,I couldn't find the video with John and Emmylou, but I did find this one!..Today is a good day..

I am seriously sorry about your bike and I don't even want to read what anyone else said. What the hell were you thinking not locking your SECOND bike? Sling, when we moved to Idaho 9 years ago keys were left in our cars IN TOWN, door never locked. Not anymore. Get a damn lock...cheaper than your next bike I bet. I have 2 CD's by the Trio of EL, D and L. I wish I had EmmyLou's hair that's for sure and there is nothing sweeter than Linda's voice in harmony.
Oh, I must admit, I love me some John Denver. It was the first album (LP!) that I owned. I wanted to be cool in jr. high, so I also had Foreigner and the like, but my friends didn't know that my favorites were John Denver, Paul Simon, Jim Croce, Joni Mitchell and those guys.
A couple years back, at about 1am on a worknight, a John Denver special came on -- not really a special, actually, a fundraiser for the PBS channel. I stayed up and watched the whole thing, came dragass to work the next morning. People assumed I'd had a wild night...
thanks for putting that up!
great song.
too bad they're using you tube for that stupid debate. music is it's fisrt and best destiny.
Love John Denver, but that woman on stage with him was terr-i-ble! I too wish you could find the duet with Emmy Lou. And ain't those kids at the club the best?
Ooooh. 'To know him is to love him.' OOoh, again.
Emmylou can hardly do wrong. Well, except for writing her own stuff. She's definitely no Dolly.
Thank you for the music and the reminder to pull out some of my old stuff. I just loved this. I haven't come accross Emmy Lou Harris much but John Denver...I have listened to him since the '70's - he was wonderful. I don't think you have ever posted music I haven't liked...must be something to do with when we were born I reckon along with some others here. NO matter what it was a wonderful time to be young in and some of the best music ever.
Oh, wow, I love the oldies. I'm really dating myself, but I have John on vinyl.:) And I'll listen to Neil Young any time they stick a microphone in front of him. Love him!
Oh Emmylou- "Walkin' across Texas with a bible in my hand" Girl can do no wrong. Thanks for the blast from the past..
Quite the musical time we're having here, ain't it? Love me some John Denver. I care not for the mocking that will be mocked by certain mockers.
Who are these mocking mockers of which you speak? They sound like horrible people and they probably don't have any friends.
Thank God I'm a Country Boy!
yes, Sling, Ro is right...move to I-Don't -Know and you won't have to lock it up. Someday, it will change, but not for a long time. You can really freak out a burglar by just putting fake security signs in windows...they didn't know what LoJack was when we went to a car dealer a few years back...thought that was techy stuff...but they do know JD up here and all the other oldies...time warp honey...and friendly as well...like huckleberry pie? ask Ro...she know
Well I'm glad to bring it you guys. :)
I know it's a little sappy and all,but let the mocking mockers mock.
ahh, i love that song..anyone who has never once sang along with country roads is a schmuck...and emmy lou can sing the telephone book...i love her voice..
I had a roommate in high school who used to play guitar while I was falling asleep. She was particulalrly fond of John Denver, so hearing him always brings back good memories.
What great video...in HS I was a huge John Denver..my Dad bless his heart turned me on to American Folk music..he was a big fan of Pete and Woody..so natch..his tow-headed child grew up with an ifinity for folk.
This was a treat!!
