My camera barfed up some pix...

I was going to post some pictures of an aqua park we went to over Labor Day,and got side tracked by the whole "Sling's ATM" ordeal...
30 minutes from O-Town,is a pleasant little village with the entirely pretentious name of Paradise...Well,I don't know about all that, but it is where I like to go when I'm feeling homesick for Colorado.
Lying at a somewhat higher elevation, there are plenty of tall pines, and other evergreens,as well as a general Alpine atmosphere to the layout and architecture of the town.
Plus!...Snow in the Wintertime.Something I need on a spiritual level to feel like a human being.
Anyway...

At the edge of town lies a small, but very enjoyable aqua park.A nice place to sit,and clear the cobwebs.
..Obligatory Fountain..

Polliwogs!!..I love polliwogs.
There was a group of boys running helter-skelter with homemade nets, trying to capture as many as they could...I went back to my own childhood for an instant.
..Long,barefoot Summers.

A nicely shaded picnic area. It's about 5 degrees cooler here than O-Town.
Reason enough to make the short trip up the hill.
This is a little waterfall spilling into a stream that feeds the lake.
The Elks,or Masons,or Mormons,or whoever put this plan together, did a nice job of keeping the landscape as natural as possible.
Okay,I had to play with Photoshop a little.
This is the "Watercolor" effect.

..Nothing all that spectacular,I know, but we take our respite where we find it.
It's Friday..I've readjusted my attitude, and life continues to be good in Sling's Domain.

Water has the ability to refresh the soul and bring a sense of peace. You are lucky to a Paradise near by.

Polliwogs -- awwww! I haven't seen any of those since I was a kid. Great pictures of what looks like a lovely place. It looks like -- well, Paradise.

I love the word polliwogs. So much better than tadpoles. Like you fully expect the polliwog to turn into some magical prince or sprout dragonfly wings and grant you three wishes.

I especially appreciate the 2 purply polliwogs.

Born in Co. Springs & growing up in Virginia gave me a love for the seasons, especially snowy winters. We had little pools of pollywogs in the sprintime and my friend and I would scoop some up in a welch's jelly jar and take them home. The water was murky but we could see them wiggling around. They made it all but 3 or 4 days and down the toilet mom would flush the floating amphibians.

Snow, mountains, trees so lush in color and scent...brilliant blue skies, huge white puffy clouds, creeks and clear streams....prairies...that is why we moved from the city to the country...had to...enjoy your weekend! peace...

mom-Fortunately for me,there are plenty of lakes and rivers nearby. At least once a year I like to make a pilgrimmage to the ocean as well.

serena joy-I used to go to the slough and snag bucketfuls as a kid. Most of them matured into frogs, which I would take back and release.

Hat-glad you enjoyed the spewage!

jan-I was born in the Wintertime,so I like to enjoy my birthday in a winter wonderland.

more cowbell-I totally like the word polliwogs better!..Just because it does have a mystical sound to it. :)

Dude,.These guys were HUGE!..4-6 inches...Much bigger than the ones I used to collect.
I can highly reccomend investing in a camera..One pic being worth a thousand rants and all..

CS-Ahhh...Too bad about the flushing thing..
My mom was just as fascinated with the little buggers as we were,so we got to see many of them grow into frogs.
....all those things about the country for sure!..Plus!.Astounding Thunderstorms, where the boomers literally make your bones ache...I love that stuff.

I used to catch polliwogs at The hugh Library in Alhambra on Main street. There was a beautiful park in the back....I thought if I took them home they wouldn't turn into ugly frogs.....my mom thought otherwise.

Rosie- Still,..A brilliant scientific Experiment!
You had an hypothesis.
You tested that hypothesis under controlled conditions.(a jar in your bedroom,I assume)
..and you noted the results!
In this case, science has once again proven that mom is always right.

Never knew what a polliwog was...some sort of mediterranean politician perchance? Are thay a sort of tadpole?

A beaut post Sling... places like this are sort of sacred for what we need inside.

MMMMM, pretty! I desperately need to get away to a place just like that, but am not able to this summer. I liked your camera spewage as well. In the south, we called them pollywogs, and tadpoles both. We also said mudbugs and crawdads. We were very duplicitous...

If someone was just, oh, wandering by and took a cyber-stroll through this disneyland life of yours, they'd never suspect would they? Ha.

Paradise is pretty pretty.

We sometimes ache to live in mountains with pine and snowy-scents. Luckily, our memories are long. We know there's cold involved. Long, inescapable cold.

middle child- See...This is why I love words.
I'm gonna have to look up the etymology of "Polliwog"..but yes,..It's a tadpole.
come to think of it,I'm gonna have to look up "Tadpole"..

nunnies attic- There is a lot to be said for choosing the name Paradise..If you've ever been to Death Valley, you know what I mean.

monica- There is nothing wrong with your computer..That is,in fact,a Leprachaun....damm things get worse every Summer..

tater- Crawdads!!....Yumm!
It takes a buttload to make a meal, but then, there's no shortage this time of year.

citymouse- Take that time to replenish your spirit girl...We don't live by bread alone.

booda baby- ...So cold it burns.
Still, you're alive, and going one-on-one with the nature of things.
God help me,..I love it so.

lorraine- Just relax, and enjoy the break...You'll need to be in Make-up at 4 am for the 3 o'clock shooting. :P

yellowdog G.- Ahhh...It's the little things! :)
