Didn't they try to find some good in you and me?

On Thursday the 22nd,we'll most of us be celebrating,..well,..life I suppose.
I have this wonderful mix of friends here in Bloggertown.
Christian,Pagan,Jewish,agnostic,atheist..what have you.
This pleases me.
It pleases me because I get the benefit of being associated with, what I'm convinced, are people of good heart, and enlightened minds.
I'll be giving thanks after my own fashion come next Thursday.

The 22nd of November holds some added significance for me as well.
On that day,in 1963,Mrs. Wolfert sought me out in particular on the playground.
With tears in her eyes, she told me that John Kennedy had just been killed.
I knew at that moment, that the world would be different after this.
I think that may very well be the day I started really paying attention.

Mornin' Sling!
That song always gets me! Sitting here a little teary eyed this morning. And not one of them was alive in my lifetime. Dion and Billy Joel knew what they were talking about. Only the good die young.

Love,
Julie

Clearly she saw in you the perceptive and gentle soul that we all know you to be. Great choice of song.

Mornin' julie!- "..and we'll be free.Someday soon,it's gonna be one day!"..I think I've got somethin' in my eye.

mom- I often wonder what the world would be like today,if they had been given just a little more time.

Hat- I can't count the number of good ways that woman influenced my life.
Glad you liked the tune!

My first actual memory of a world larger than me was that day- I was in the kitchen at the parents restaurant when the news came on the radio. The entire staff and the parents plunged into grief, shock and just out of control tears. The world went crazy. Daddy shut the doors for two days.

How I remember the horse with the backwards boots- Jackie walking in her veil. And John-John saluting his Daddy.

Much like that episode of the X-Files, I have this dream of what the world would have been like if JFK hadn't been murdered.. My hopeful side will never, ever be dissuaded that had those three murders not have happened the world would be a much saner and more civil place today.

I reckon she sought you out because she saw exactly what your virtual friend see in you dear..

doralong- All of those images are among my most vivid memories of that time..
Here's something entirely strange.
All of my childhood memories are in black and white. After that, they are in color..for real.

Beautiful post and perfect video. I have those black and white memories, too. They somehow seem more powerful that way.

middle child- The great advantage of being old,is that we get to speak our minds..Yeah,..mostly we get ignored.
But if only one person listens!..

Damm newfangled gadget!
That whole black and white thing probably has a lot to do with the state of the art in television and photography during the 50's and early 60's.Still,..Black and white does feel as solid as granite, doesn't it..

I love that song. Still remember where I was when I heard the news about all of 'em. Well, not Abraham. That was just a little before my time.

I love that song.

That's really cool that your teacher came and found YOU to tell. That says a lot.
