My old Alma Mater..

I miss my high school days at Redondo Union High.
I miss walking in the front gate, when my mom dropped me off,and walking straight out the back gate, headed for the pier at Hermosa beach,to spend the entire day body surfing.
Mostly,I miss grades 9-11..
These guys graduated just a few years ahead of me.
Alumni of those very same hallowed halls.

Have some fun,and give a listen.

Take it!

"No"...
I took it..I ain't gonna take it no more...
Ahh, the smothers brothers..I have been madly in love with Tom Smothers since I first saw them ...I have 2 of their albums..I loved their tv show...think it started out as a summer replacement for Sonny and Cher, or Glen Cambell can't remember...Steve Martin was a writer for the show, and they pissed so many people off in the White House they got jerked off the air...

Hat- Folk singers tried to organize a strike back in the 70's to fight this injustice!..
But Burl Ives crossed the picket line, and the whole thing went to shit.

doralong- Can you believe their show was cancelled because they were too "radical" for network TV?

billy- It's on page 36 of the Altar Boy's Handbook..don't ask me how I know that.

Yellerdawg G.- I think Glen Campbell got his start on their show.
I know Mason Williams did with his brilliant,"Classical Gas".
I didn't know Steve Martin was a writer for the the show, but it makes sense. They were funny, topical, and irreverent,,Clearly a threat to national security!

I only jigged school on really one occasion. Mind you the beach wasn’t just out the backdoor. I know some of my teachers wished I did it more.

I tried skipping class in high school only once - my teacher came to my room and got me!

Love the Smothers Brothers.

So, you went to the same high school as Tom and Dick and my future husband wrote for them, so that makes us related! See you at the reunion...it's your turn to bring the potato salad.

I love the Smothers Brothers.

Ok, I just had to come back and say that this bit brought back so many memories. My folks were into the Smothers Brothers way before they had their show...we had all their records. The pumas in the crevises...cracked me up then, cracks me up now.

Laffity laff laff...

Apos- For all intents and purposes,I never really attended the 10th or 11th grade...In my defense,I was a teenager, and therefore already knew everything.

lorraine- This is one case where I have to say I never actually knew them.it wasn't until after they became successful that RUHS jumped all over their celebrity status.
..and I still laugh my ass off at these two idiots!
I mean that in a good way.

I had heard about them but never seen them...ha ha ha har.

Another oldie but goodie we both loved was Red Skeleton especially when he did the drunk...

Don used to laugh so hard at him he couldn't make any sound and we'd all laugh just as hard at him flinging himself about trying to get some breath...but then he liked Naked Gun

Good stuff Dling

middle child- Red Skelton was like a god to my dad!
Actually our whole family loved the guy, espescially "Freddy the Freeloader".

Oh, I used to - and probably still do - think Tommy was suuuuper sexy. I think all funny men are suuuuper sexy. And - of course! Steve Martin would've been their perfect staff writer!

He's suuuper etc., too.

Smothers Brothers were one of the few things we were allowed to watch on t.v. I guess my Mom figured they weren't the product of the devil. I had no idea they were local boys though. (Redondo, Yippee)

I think I slept with one of the Smothers Brother - no sorry that was the Everly Brothers. I get confused... I'm old okay!

booda baby- I never really thought of Tommy as being sexy, but he is funny as hell!
You know,it takes brains to act that stupid.

sageweb- For a pair o' guys that weren't a product of the devil, they sure raised some hell in their day.
I'm glad you stopped in homegirl,I have been meaning to add you to my blogroll.

willym- It's okay with me,..but I think at least one of the Everly Brothers might get his feelings hurt that you didn't remember. ;)
