Friday serendipity

I was rummaging around in my giant stainless steel vault for something obscure to play for Friday Jukebox, and re-discovered this, sitting next to my beloved LP (what the hell is this 'LP' thing of which he speaks??...) of Rosemary Clooney (yeah,..George's Aunt) singing 'come on'na my house'...
I forget how I acquired it,and I have no idea what it's about 'cause it's all in French and shit.
I did a Wikipedia search, and it seems her entire bio consists of the fact that she has a twin.
Hey!..Babes in stereo!..I digress.
Anywhiz,
Maybe someone can enlighten me.
In any case,I liked it at first listen, which is pretty rare for me.

'Un ange qui passe'..(a passing angel?..just guessin') ..

It's been a long week, and I have much catching up to do in bloggertown,I know, but that's what weekends are for.
Speaking of which,y'all have a good one!

no video clip popped up for me. ???

I'm pretty sure she's not sining about rainbows and Unicorns.

yay! got video and audio this time!

okay, my french is a bit rusty and chunks have flaked away, but i am pretty sure the song is about a mother's last words to her daughter to be strong after she passes away. she tells her daughter that she will always be with her in her memories/reveries: in a teardrop, in a sigh.

the part about the angels that pass by is poetic and i don't think my french is good enough to do it justice, but the gist is that the mother tells the daughter to keep the angels in her company to quell her fear of silence, and on that particular night (when she passes) life will have given her her best of friends.

i suppose its meant to say that the girl's mother will forever be her guarian angel.

very sweet song. nice find there, sling!

Its really beautiful... wish my Francais was better... I do remember one phrase which we kids looked up in the dictionary
age 13 ...ooo wah
"Vou est un(e) batard"

It had the word bastard in it which was really bad in 1967, even bloody was bad then.

nie to hear the music you like... its always good stuff.

It's a good thing I don't ask you about parenthetical asides. Although my blogs WOULD be a lot shorter and that would be a good thing.

I loved so much how danny helped you out. It was perfect reading - wait. The song was a perfect soundtrack for the reading. There. That's it.

The song is pretty, the singer's pretty, Danny's interpretation rocks, and Stan got himself a cool name. It's all good. Hope you've had a great weekend.:)

I remember this intriguing phrase from high school french: ouvre le livre a la page dix-huit (open your book to page 18) spoken by Madame Haller, the French teacher, who was rumored to be rendevouzing with the gym teacher, Mr. Lane.

Also, you what's really freaky? Listening to a female artist sing in French while looking at Sling's Meez guy. Whoa.

(puts on face of steel)
Pft. For a Frenchy she sure do sound like an American Idol contestant. Sorry. Did nothing for me. Then again, I'm not big on being emotionally manipulated to care.
(proceeds to weep in the corner, tenderly holding a copy of this CD purchased in haste from Amazon.frenchy...
"Oh Annie, it's like you're singing right to me!" sob sob sob)

(cuddles the weeping Hat) That is a very pretty song, Sling, but I know why you like her. Just saying.

Wonderful voice! Wonderful song!
Brought to mind last Friday morning over here when Charlotte Green was reading out the news about the oldest known recording of the human voice- a French song 'Clair de Lune".
Newsreader Green cracked up when a studio member remarked that the 1860 recording sounded like a "bee buzzing in a bottle". It did!
The broadcast was hysterical- you must listen to it if you can. The British do not usually crack up like this-lol.
Unfortunately she was trying to read out an obituary at the time- oops! lol HERE:http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/audio/2008/mar/28/charlotte.green
enjoy :)

Actually Annie Villeneuve is the winner of the French-Canadian equilvant of American Idol - Star Academy. She's from northern Québec, a great little town called Joncquiere where everyone is either a Bergeron, Tremblay or Villeneuve - like I said a little town.
