What to do with half a Guitar..

I wrote this song for my Grand daughter Erin, some time ago.
I wanted it to be simple, and reminiscent of those tinkling little tunes one might find while riding a gaily painted critter on your typically transient Summer's Merry-Go-Round.

..It's somewhat harder than it looks.

I've used an open 'G' tuning,..capo up two frets,..and kept my finger picks limited to the 'B','G',and 'A' strings..(You can't strum these chords..Trust me.)

'Calliope'

What a great gift.Erin is a lucky girl.

Do you ever write words to your music or waiting for a lyricist to come along.

Wonderful! You got exactly what you were after! I had no trouble at all seeing the painted ponies leap off the merry go round and do what they do. Jig?

Aw, that's lovely. (My older son wandered over when he heard the music and sat and watched the clip with me. When it ended he said, "He's pretty good." Trust me, tht's a high compliment.)

Some grandpas just give their grandkids stuffed bears. Also, your hair has gotten long. I rather like it. And another also is that I'm pleased to see that you are no longer video camera shy.

Add my bits into the big tip jar o' praise.

Ah Sling, that was so sweet sounding. Any music that makes my heart feel warm is good stuff. Your little Erin will treasure this...of course make sure she gets a copy and with a message so she knows years down the line what her grandad felt.

Another keeper and will send on to my daughter's boyfriend who plays like you, loves to play, rock or classical, spanish all of that but has develloped RSI...and can't play what he used to do. you wouls understand what this means. Thanks Sling so much

I love when you do this! Also, I can't figure out if I love or hate that you never say a word on your clips -- it adds this mysterious air to the music, like, who is that mustachio'd man, but also leaves me really wanting to hear the Voice of Sling.

That song really worked -- I was getting images of summer trips to our local zoo, which has a carousel that the Bohemian loves to ride. You're never too old for a carousel. Loved this. And what a cool grandpa.

If I ever end up in a relationship again, I think I'm making it a prereq that the person play guitar.
