I guess the punishment should fit the crime..
Criminal charges will not be filed against 18-year-old college freshman,Danmell Ndonye, who falsely accused five men of raping her in a dormitory bathroom at Hofstra University. I had to read that twice.
I mean,..this little spoiled twat,in a classic case of bimbo's remorse,decides it would be a lark to ruin the lives of five guys she eagerly gang-banged in a dormitory restroom,and basically gets to walk away with little more than a half hearted,'Tsk-tsk..Shame on you'..
Never mind that these guys' entire futures were put into the nightmarish limbo that naturally follows the mere accusation of this particularly heinous crime..
Let's forget about the fact that she had no qualms at the prospect of them quite likely spending the next twenty years in prison if convicted.
Did I say 'if '?...Let's face it...Once Little Miss Munchhausen put on her well practiced 'helpless victim' routine for the jury,homeboys might as well lay in a lifetime supply of Vaseline.
As it rightfully turned out,the precious darling had to recant her story when she was confronted with a cell phone video that showed her happily lapping up (pun fully intended) all that desperately sought after attention,..exonerating all of the accused beyond question.
At first,I was outraged by the decision to merely give her 250 hours of community service for her unconscionable attempt at false witness,but I guess that it makes a measure of sense.
I mean,..the whole world knows she's more than qualified to service her entire community!
Just ask the fellas over at Hofstra U..

Had a teacher friend who was ruined by two young ladies who wanted higher marks. He was proved innocent but in the meantime he lost his job, house, wife and family. The girls got away with minimal punishment for ruining a man's life. I can only hope that karma comes into the equation in any case like that.
I agree with you, but I think this is the usual punishments for these psychos.

This is exactly ass-backwards!
If the argument for the death penalty is that it deters potential murderers,then I submit that 5 years in prison,and a permanent label as a sex offender would deter other women from making the false accusation of rape in the first place.
Jan- I know it is,and she was also ordered to attend psychiatric sessions for a year..(They do have those in prison,right?)..It just pisses me off.

That's really a sham.e But you know, with stories like this, I always wonder if there is more of the story we're not getting. I would assume out of hand that she is a vindicitive slut - there may be another reason she's re-canting. I say this only because I've known, through my work, raped and battered women who withdraw charges later out of fear of reprisal.
Just read the news report, and it is clearer there about her lying. Still, although she was wrong to lie, I am probably not going to lose sleep tonight feeling sorry for the kind of men who would participate in a group encounter like that.
I hate that bitch. For all the innocent girls that really do get raped, she has put guilt on to them...she is a horrible bitch.

I'm surprised to say this, but this story hurts my heart more than anything. I have good reason to be outraged that a woman would trivialize both rape and honor/reputation, but ... nope. Heartache.

The point was, however, the small penalty? I'm okay with community service, but I think it should be high profile community service (Scarlet Letter kind of high profile) and that they could throw in quite a whole lot more hours.

I'll save a part of my sympathy for the parents of the boys,who stood behind their sons,..and the parents of Danmelle,who anguished over this unimaginable assault committed on their daughter,only to find out she was practically selling tickets to the event.
Sage- Which is why I think that taking away her Blackberry for a whole week just doesn't address the consequences of her actions in an equitable manner.

I'm with you on the stupid rationale behind this decision. Face the same sort of thinking when it comes to people making false accusations of sexual harassment in the workplace. A lie is a lie and ones that do damage to people should be punished.
makes me ill....makes a mockery of true rape victims.....makes her a slut/whore/tramp who got away with her fuck lie. she should have received the same penalty as a perjurer...and should have been made to service the whole University.
