Words of Wisdom..
Soupy Sales died Thursday,at the age of 83.
Maybe you grew up with the likes of Red Skelton,Abbott and Costello,W.C Fields,Lenny Bruce,Rusty Warren,..
Sorry,..I digress back to those pre-pubescent days when there were things that I just knew were a tad askew.
Things that seemed painfully obvious, but were never really spoken of in polite circles.
Still,..if you listened...

Soupy was unique - bet he's got a routine figured out with the angels already!
bow ties are a sign of higher intellect.
Gee they are all dying, I feel so old.
Will have to come back for these words of wisdom…listening to Lone Justice and pretending I can sing like Maria McKee, just wish the dog would stop howling along with me.
sigh*..one of the last of the good ones.my friend shady lane used to date him ............long time ago.
ha..she said he was smart and funny and well hung.
not necessarily in that order.
I loved watching the soupy sales show...wish he was still on.
I'd forgotten how funny and charming he was! Thanks for posting this. Made me smile after a long tiring day.
Hopefully new comedians like Conan O'Brien will be able to take up the mantle after Soupy Sales... may he he rest in pie, i mean, peace!
Steve and I were talking about the loss of Soupy. How could he have been 83? He is one of those guys that is ageless....loved his humor and irreverence.
Dancing slapstick…yeah not my cup of tea…but there yer go. Never was really fond of abbot and costello. That's not to say I never watched their movies. Country tele channels were not the greatest back then, nor are they the greatest now.
I had never heard of him Soupy Sales- Don and I loved red Skelton...I have a few DVD's of his and can watch them over and over...
From Wikipedia:
'On January 1, 1965, miffed at having to work on the holiday, Sales ended his live broadcast by encouraging his young viewers to tiptoe into their still-sleeping parents' bedrooms and remove those "funny green pieces of paper with pictures of U.S. Presidents" from their pants and pocketbooks. "Put them in an envelope and mail them to me," Soupy instructed the children. "And I'll send you a postcard from Puerto Rico!"..'
He was suspended from his show for two weeks, when money started pouring in!
There's an urban legend that Soupy
told 'blue' jokes, but that just wasn't so.
I loved the guy.
RIP, Soupy...I didn't know of you until now, but I'm sure you made many people smile and laugh. :)
Miss HP- He had a children's TV show, that had a huge adult following.
..Very funny guy. :)
