The greatest thing since spaghetti and string cheese!
It's Friday Music Video time boys and girls!..
How many of you can name the very first artist to appear in a music video? (Hint:..It was slightly before the 60's JP)..
It was 1927..And my favorite son-of-a-cantor starred in a landmark feature length "Talkie",..The Jazz Singer!
Flappers,and dancers,and prancers,and vixens!..I love this stuff!
Okay,..I don't have a clip from the original movie, but it's all about the voice.

Boy did I miss my era. Stupid born in the 70's (grumble grumble...)
Sunshine- The best we can do,is take up the space we are in,and revel in it!
yeah...it IS all about the voice. i would like to see the original and 2nd king kong films again. i might appreciate them as a grown-up. oh and you will find your instructions in the comments section of my blog. see you soon!
I'm with Hat. I do not belong in a world of Justin Timberlake, Britneys, Hotel heiresses and Commodore daughters.
This song always reminds me of my cousin. When my aunt adopted him he was 3 mos old. In his nursery was a music box shaped like a globe with a little clown sitting on top of it. It was the only time I could even look at a clown. And the little tinny music sounded so pretty. Thanks for the memory!
Love,
Julie
Love Al Jolson - but he was even before my time!
Poor Kong. Maybe sittin' on top of the world is not a good place to be.
Thanks Sling... you can always be counted on to put good videos on your blog...good stuff!
wore a glove and changed the color of his face, he was ahead of his time.
We met at nine.
We met at eight.
I was on time.
No, you were late.
Ah yes! I remember it well.
chevalier, but what the hell.
I LOVE that!:)
I don't think it matters when you were born.....great is great. My dad loved band music, my mom loved opera. Steve loves the blues....I love them all including some rap. We have real faux oak flooring too...I want the real stuffand I want to be 5'6" so my weight fits me better.
As I always say - see my copyright notices - Everything good started in the 1920s. Yes, you can quote me.
Oh, that was goood. My father used to love Al Jolson and even though he proved to be total son of a bitch - the father, not the Al - you still got to appreciate the good stuff you were introduced to. Like the Al.
Me and Lorraine are going to open a new bar called Here's The 20's, and we need a bartender.
Interested?
Just be sure to keep it on the down-low. Prohibition and all.
Ooh! And I can wear flapper dresses. I look awesome in flapper dresses. Gin anyone?
Oh! And we have to come up with a special knock to get into the club. This'll be awesome.
