I love it when the Artichokes are in bloom!

Two asses..
I'm told  they stand like this so that they can swipe flies from each other's faces with their tails.
I've been trying to get a pic of the LifeFlight chopper for awhile, but usually I can't get my camera ready in time..
This was a fortunate freeze frame shot,..albeit from a little more distance than I would have liked.

This handpainted fellow has a wingspan of about 6 inches!

I like this one..It's peaceful.

You're not paranoid,if they really are watching you.

This is that scraggly Crepe Myrtle we planted last Fall.
Nice to see it 'took'.

I didn't get a single decent photo of the O-Town fourth of July fireworks, but I did get a shakey shot of the traditional red, white, blue, and some shade of tan with this one.

Can you spot the newly hatched little fledge in this pic?

The lady that owns this succulent has had it for 3 years, and this is the first time it has flowered!
It doesn't look real..

It wasn't lightning,or wind that took these limbs down, but hydraulic pressure!
In the excessive heat we've had this summer, water and sap rise so violently that the tree literally explodes.

Gizzy never moves..At least, days will go by and she'll be in the same spot the whole time.
So,I'm guessin' this mouse must have crawled in her mouth, and commited suicide.

..Probably the last time Rasputin drinks any more of my cheap brown liquor..

I've been spending every spare moment since Arizona governor Jan Brewer signed SB1070,working to get the damn thing repealed.
Federal judge Susan Bolton heard arguments against it last week, and could issue a ruling at any time.
It is scheduled to go into effect on Thursday..

I had no idea artichokes looked like that in bloom. Are they related to thistles?

Secret Agent Woman- Me neither!..I was like,'WTF??'.
You have asked an excellent question..now I must find out,and report back to you.

I didn't know heat would make a tree explode. Around here we would know it was a big thunder storm.
I've got my fingers crossed on the Arizona thing. It just seems so obviously wrong that i can't understand how it got passed in the first place.

Mom- Whichever way the judge decides,it's a foregone conclusion it will be appealed, and eventually wind up before the Supreme Court.
It got passed in the first place, because there's a black man in the White House, nad the Republicans need to have something to hate in order to get elected.

Rasputin is the best kitty name ever, and it clearly suits him. Great photos as always, and I've missed you too!

LOve the photos..I love the artichoke shot..but I always feel like you have a choice of beauty to let it flower of the joy of taste, to eat it before the beauty...such a dilemma.

Why do cats always leave the bottom half of the mouse uneaten? Is it unappetizing? Is it just to freak us out? Is it against the kitty code of ethics? I don't get it.

Every year I buy an artichoke from the supermarket. And as it dries up, every year I wonder why.

I had no idea artichokes bloomed, amazing. I always thought it was just a green vegetable. Looking at your blog is like going to school.

You couldn't possibly be spending very spare moment on SB1070, even though those Arizoniananians obviously need your assistance. When would you have found time to catch Rasputin spittin'? Hm?

**Secret Agent Woman Update**
I have it on good authority that Artichokes a relative of the 'Bull Thistle'..So The Partner informs me. :)

Yellerdawg- Dexter bein' a good mouser,I can understand..But we have to smell Gizzy every couple of days just to make sure she's still alive!

JP- Rasputin totally fits him.
He's a mad little monk.

Sage- The good news is,there is an abundance of Artichokes in the garden,..so we can have the best of both. :)

Thinker- Everyone knows that the breast is the tastiest part of the mouse..Duh!

Jan- HA!..They are the kind of thing you should eat as soon as you buy them.
Think of all that wonderful, melted butter dipped Artichokey goodness!

Billy P.- Yep,..and flying scorpions too.
The future is not lookin' too bright.

Laurent- If you have learned something new today, then my work here is done. ;)

Booooda Babe- Can you see Bailey sitting on my legs behind Rasputin?
It was a coordinated effort to keep me from my computer.

CRAP!..I was deleting spam, and accidentally deleted Miss Healthypants!..Sorry kid.
I think feathers remind me of god as well,in any case.
Maybe it's the whole Angel thing, but even when they are unattached, they still seem to soar. :)

Are you happy about SB1070 developments?

At 9:27 PM , Blogger Sling said...

Booda Babe- Yes!..Emotions aside,my main argument with it is on Constitutional grounds.
I gotta tell ya,Judge Bolton's ruling came down exactly as we predicted it would..
My biggest disappointment is the myopic, and self serving attitudes behind the law on the part of it's supporters.
..That still remains.

Thanks for the info. I was looking at a purple thistle today and think they just had to be related.

Just to let you know, I had to change URL's. This avatar links ot the new site.

For god's sake who is the mongrel who keeps doing this to your blog - we can't bloody read it so whats the point - I mean if it was funny or amusing...gah!
The photos are really good - and that cat with the mouse is realy suspect.
I am glad you are fighting this law - I don't understand too much of it - but it doesn't sound too bloody good. Its important to fight the things we can fight and am pleased you haven't just sat back like many do and copped it sweet.
