So..Yer telling me you want to be a singer?

Right at the top of my list of guilty pleasures,is watching those delusional bumpkins on talent shows make perfect fools of themselves on national television.
You can see it coming a mile away!

'Music is my life!!',they'll gush,..and then proceed to butcher a melody beyond comprehension.

Well,..don't I feel like a complete moron right about now.

Many thanks to my dear friend Yellowdog Granny, for catching me off guard.

Here's a toast to frumpy, middle-aged women with amazing voices!

oh I love her voice. I love her. I hope she makes it big.

She's an absolute knockout. Most people won't remember Gracie Fields but she is so like "Our Gracie" - she was rather plain, a bit frumpy but her personality and voice made her a star of stage, movies and television in the UK. Proof that all the botox in the world won't replace god given talent.

I deleted my first comment.....I have been sitting here for almost 20 minutes playing this over and over. This woman touched me...single, living with her cat, unemployed....yet she is joyous. I have seen Les Mis twice...did not hear this done so well.

I've listened to it about 30 times.
Every time,I'm choked with emotion by the end of the first verse.
Hey!..It's not just me.
There's a brief close-up on Simon Cowell where he is clearly re-evaluating everything he knows about,..well,..everything.
Perhaps we'll both get over it.
..I'm gonna listen to it again just to make sure.

Great big Yeller Dawg- She's absolutely world class right?..Right??
Tucked away in some small corner of the British Isles for 48 years.
I owe you one darlin'. :) :)

Billy P.- I'd ask her to marry me,but I get the sense from her performance that she has standards..

When I got the email yesterday I sent it to everyone in my address book over 40. Later in the day I got 3 emails from people under 40's saying, "Ya gotta hear this." I guess she sings to all ages.

Didn't your mom used to tell you to never judge a book by its cover? Turns out she was right.

my daughter texted me from college asking if I'd seen it. I just finished watching her - 3 times - on youtube. I love her singing and hell yeah, I like her style! She's spunky and has a good smile.

And did you all see Simon's reaction throughout? The crowd? The lady wowed them all.

Who could watch this and not get a case of the happies? You go, Susan. You're a star.

I wonder if they'll be able to compile how many blogs were written in the wake of this. I'm going to swipe a line of yours to write mine. Ha and another ha.

I could see little $$ signs whirling about his head.

Lost- You're quite welcome doll. :)

Miss HP- Smiles back at ya!

Cowbelle- I think one of the things I like most,is that she knew she was gonna rock the house, and went about it in a charmingly humble fashion.

Booda Babe- I stole your word veri's,and fair is fair. ;)

I was sent this on Mal's blog...and when was 48 middle aged???I consider 75 plus old. 55to 75 middle aged, which just includes me...and isn't Madonna 50???So its not about age its about looks...but what a personality and voice...that wiped the sniggers off their boring little faces...those same jusdges did the same to a little 12 year old wo stood up ans poured out, straight from hr sould the most beautiful rendition of AVE Maria ever. So they haven't learned anything yet.

I am a bit the opposite, when i see the tribes of rappers and britney spears wanna bees I switch off and expect nothing much...thats my predjudice
