Video stress..
It's been raining all week here in O-Town,so my first inclination for this Friday's music video was to play 'April Showers' by one of my favorite crooners,..Al Jolson.
..I love the guy!
But the only best version I could find,and after some brief introspection, I finally deemed inappropriate due to the fact that he performed it in 'Blackface'.
Maybe I over think things too much..I mean,..that was then,and this now,and I'm not sure political correctness should determine whether or not I post a heartwarming tune,just because it happens to be performed by a middle-aged Jewish guy disguised as a black man.
It's the white man's dilemma,..I suppose.
In any case,..I decided to let a blind Hispanic kid represent my soggy situation for me in its stead.
I am much more than pleased with the result!

Political correctness has become a bit of a dilemma for most of us. How can we change the past, particularly when its frozen on film or vinyl?
Like the alternate but would have loved to see the original choice.

i love, love Jose Feliciano...love him. i actually like his version of Light My Fire better than the Doors. Rain coming here too....you probably at fault for that...blame it all on California.
Now I can see the video...it was my work computer...it is old...because it is way better to build state of the art technological advanced flying machines on computers that need need an hour to warm up before you can use them.
Sorry you've had so much rain, Sling-o! Here it's just been sun...and 20 mph winds making it feel like 35 degrees. Ya' gotta love April...
I have a really good comment to leave, only I can't remember the word that means kind of a glitch in historical context. What's that word? What IS IT?!?!?!?!?!???!?
Anyway. I like that Al Jolson and if my vote alone counted, I'd say: it's what it was. History judges him, not you for digging up a video. (Some day, someone will say that about footage of Bush getting whacked with the shoe.)

This made me think of a question: When a white actor plays Barack Obama on Saturday Night Live by wearing dark makeup, is that blackface?
I think that there are too many rules these days...just treat others regardless of age, race or sex as you want to be treated...which doesn't mean turn the other cheek... just don't go looking for it...or cause it...did mum and dad okay
