Size Does Matter!..

Nestled on the horizon south of O-Town,and visible from the main hi-ways leading in and out of our humble hamlet, lie the world renowned Sutter Buttes!

'What makes them world renowned Sling?'...

Hey!..Do I interrupt you guys while you're talking?..Now I've lost my train of thought..
Oh yes,..the Sutter Buttes, named after that John Sutter character who discovered gold in California while searching for a shorter route to India, hold the singular distinction of being the smallest mountain range in the world!
I've nicked a photo of this natural wonder in it's entirety from Flikr,..for your shopping convenience.

Formed 1.5 million years ago from the eroded domes of an extinct volcano,'The Buttes',as we locals refer to them, are a mere 10 miles in diameter.
Compare that to South America's Andes mountains, the world's longest mountain range at 4,400 miles!

'But Sling,..what exactly constitutes a mountain range?..I mean, those just look like a bunch of scraggly hills to me..

Man,..you people are just intent on irritating me!..I should make you look it up,but I started this geekfest, and I'm gonna finish it.
..Those people that cloister themselves away in the halls of academia in an effort to resolve such questions, have unanimously agreed,(with the delegation from Kansas abstaining),that a mountain is a geologic formation, whose peak reaches a minimum height of 2,000 feet above sea level.

The tallest peak in our little formation,'South Butte',(they really racked their brains over naming that one),rises to the majestic height of 2,130 feet!..Putting the whole pile of rocks squarely in the record books.

Now,..you all have something to discuss during any awkward lulls in conversation that may occur over Thanksgiving dinner with the in-laws..

Wireless Modem Geekfest Tuesday..

PROBLEM: Over the last several months,I have been experiencing ever increasing instances of being unceremoniously 'bumped' from my wireless modem connection.
Once or twice a week, and for no apparent reason,I'd suddenly get the pop-up message, 'Unable to connect to preferred wireless network'.
No connection..No Internet.
I'd re-boot my computron,and everything would be fine...for a while.
As time went on,this escalated to 3 or 4 times a week, then once a day, then 2 or more times a day,..until last Sunday,I was disconnected no less than ten times!

Well,enough of this crap!

Since Lizzard King wasn't having any problems staying connected,I decided the problem wasn't with the modem, but rather an internal malfunction with my laptop.

It may be that some of you have experienced this exercise in aggravation.
If so,I'll spare you the FOUR FREAKIN' HOURS of hunting, and pecking, and searching through every diagnostic and troubleshooting procedure under the sun!..and walk you through the 'Wireless Connection Repair' procedure myself.

NOTE: You must be connected to the Internet to correct the problem,so I strongly suggest you do this before it gets too far out of hand.
I was getting bumped the whole time I was diagnosing, and finally accomplished
the task within a five minute window of opportunity!

Step #1
From the 'Start' menu, select 'Connect To',and choose 'Show all connections'..

Step #2
Right click on the wireless modem connection icon..

Step #3
From the pop-up window,select 'Properties'..

Step#4
You'll see your modem listed under 'Connect Using'..Select 'Configure'..

Step #5
In the next pop-up window, select 'Driver'..

Step #6
Next window,..click on 'Update Driver'..

Step #7
Choose to let windows search for the update on-line,and then click 'Next'..

Lickity-Split the program found, and downloaded the driver update,..and I haven't had any problems since!

I'm using the WINDOWS XP operating system...VISTA users should still find the process the same,or similar enough to figure out your own damm self.

..Have a great week kids!

Children of the korn..

'You're not paranoid,if they really are watching you!'...

Like most rural communities,O-Town is largely a quiet, and peaceful little Hamlet.
Lazy days filled with the laughter of small children playing under the watchful eyes of their soccer moms, shopkeepers busily sweeping the sidewalks in front of their stores, while all and sundry townsfolk go about the business of living their daily lives at a Rockwellian pace..All quite pastoral,I assure you!

We are reminded however, during these misty mornings, and chilly evenings preceding All-Hallows Eve,of a darker, and much more sinister veil that conceals our deepest fears.
Things that are only spoken of in whispers, out of earshot from the children, and certainly never in the presence of 'Outsiders'...

****Mysteries of O-Town****

What malevolent force compels the inhabitants of O-Town to gather en masse along Main Street at seemingly random times, and for no apparent reason?..

This 'Sprocket of Death',preserved where it fell,is all that remains after Bob Rotary's twin-engine Cessna mysteriously disappeared from the skies above O-Town!

No one alive today knows what ancient race of technologically advanced beings built 'The Great Pyramid' at Filbert Street,or why it was abruptly abandoned before it was completed.

..and perhaps most frightening of all!

It's Monday,..and life is beset with really creepy stuff in Sling's Domain.
